Baptists in Newbury

This talk is aimed at providing the background to the history of the Baptist church movement in England from its beginnings in the early 17th century to modern times. The structure of the Baptist Church movement can make this quite challenging but not impossible.

We will look at the origins of Baptist Christians, how they arrived in England and the impact of laws on where records could be held. Following this we will look specifically at Newbury Baptist Church which has had three histories which contain useful information.

This talk is free to members of Berkshire Family History Society but we request a donation of £5 from non-members.
