There has been an estate at Wokefield since the first house was built in the 1560s for the wealthy Plowden family. Set in 250 acres of Berkshire parkland, and now owned by De Vere Hotels, The Wokefield Estate offers excellent conferencing facilities, and its hotel facilities include 376 bedrooms – so it’s also a great place to stay for those coming from further afield.
Activities
Outside, you’ll find an 18-hole PGA-standard golf course. This is a 6,996-yard, par 72 championship golf course which features elevated tees, streams, lakes and bunkers to test your skill.
There’s also a fully equipped gym and indoor swimming pool available daily for guests to use. The gym has now been fully refurbished and offers a range of cardiovascular and resistance training equipment, brand-new Technogym equipment – all suited to most levels of fitness. Both the gym and the swimming pool are open daily from 7am – 9pm
So, if you’d like to make a weekend of it with a partner whose interests don’t include family history – there’s plenty for them, and you, to do.
