Look Up: An amateur’s guide to architecture

Want to know whether your architecture is polite? Can you spot pargeting, and do you know your English bond from your Flemish bond? Would you know where to find a quoin? Can you sort your mansard from your half hipped?

An illustrated talk throughout with local examples – is an amateur’s guide to help you look at buildings with a fresh eye, explaining what features to look for, giving some suggestions on dating, and explaining where you might spot signs that buildings have changed over time. Wherever you live, it will help you appreciate the wealth of architectural interest in the buildings around you.

This talk is free to members of Berkshire Family History Society but we request a donation of £5 from non-members.
