After the Great War: History in the 1921 census
The 1921 census was the first to be collected after the Great War of 1914-1918, and for family history researchers it contains a great deal of useful information. Most importantly, it brings clarity to the social and economic life which existed after the war, and the ongoing issues around unemployment and poverty.
This talk looks at how, and when, the census was collected (and why it is so important for historians), and goes on to look at what the census tells us about some of the local families and individuals and how they lived after the war.
The meeting is free to members of Berkshire Family History Society and we request a donation of £5 from non-members.
