Tracing Your RAF Ancestors Workshop

For many families, the Royal Air Force holds a powerful place in their history. Yet its records can feel daunting, scattered, or difficult to interpret. This workshop cuts through the complexity and opens the door to one of the richest collections of twentieth‑century service material available to family historians.

Join us for a practical, accessible session. We will demystify RAF personnel files, operational records, squadron diaries, casualty reports, medal cards, and more. Whether your ancestor served on the ground or in the air, during the world wars or the Cold War, you’ll learn where to find the key documents, how to read them, and what hidden stories they can reveal.

Perfect for beginners and experienced researchers alike. This workshop will equip you with the tools, confidence, and insider knowledge to bring your RAF ancestor’s service to life.

Attendees are encouraged to bring along their research or any relevant items they want to talk about.
