Great War Widows and Emigration

Telling the relatively unknown stories of the plucky women who made new lives overseas after the death of their husbands in the Great War.

To join in this branch meeting, you will need a computer device which has a microphone and speakers. Ideally, also a webcam. You also need to be able to access emails from this device. First time users will be asked to download a small piece of software to join the meeting.  The meeting link will be emailed to you in advance. Technical help is available for those who need further assistance, please contact booking@berksfhs.org.uk .

    Andrea Hetherington

    A writer and researcher with an interest in the social history of the First World War. Andrea has written a number of books, including British Widows of the First World War- the Forgotten Legion and Deserters on the Home Front – the First World War. She is also currently Book Reviews Editor for the Western Front Association. Andrea is an experienced speaker both in person and online. She enjoys helping people frame their own family history in a wider historical context and tries to tailor all talks to the venue, including local stories wherever possible.
