In 2025, Berkshire Family History Society celebrates its 50th birthday. Over the course of this year, we will be celebrating this milestone in a number of ways. A celebratory conference was held on Saturday 7th June.
The Society has also organised a year-long programme of visits to interesting venues of historical significance. These are in addition to our usual events programme.

Pendon Museum
This visit to the Pendon Museum is organised by Abingdon Branch as part of the special events to celebrate the 50th birthday of Berkshire Family History Society. It is open to members and non-members alike. The visit includes a private guided tour of the museum. Light refreshments can be purchased at the museum’s café.
Thames Valley Police Museum, Sulhamstead, Tour & Talk
This visit to the Thames Valley Police Museum is organised by Newbury Branch as part of the special events to celebrate the 50th birthday of Berkshire Family History Society. It is open to members and non-members alike. The museum's collections include items from the Great Train Robbery, the Amelia Dyer baby farming murders, and uniforms, equipment etc. The visit includes a tour of the museum followed by a talk by Dave Stubbs.
Fairmile Hospital – Tour of the former hospital site
This visit to the site of the former Fairmile Hospital is organised by Reading Branch as part of the special events to celebrate the 50th birthday of Berkshire Family History Society. It is open to members and non-members alike. Ian Wheeler’s guided tour will take us around the site with a site plan to help visualise the site as it once was.
Tour of the Berkshire Museum of Aviation
This tour of the Berkshire Museum of Aviation in Woodley is organised by Bracknell & Wokingham Branch as part of the special events to celebrate the 50th birthday of Berkshire Family History Society. It is open to members and non-members alike.Â
