SUMMARY:Make your research manageable
DESCRIPTION:Many of us working on family or local history need to work with information that does not fit into neat family trees, or at least not yet. But raw data does have a logic to it and Paul Carter will explain how he has tackled managing this information with spreadsheets and other tools. He will look at roles, events, places and sources. \nNote the earlier 7 pm start time!\nPaul will be joining us from Thailand where it will be 1 am on the morning of 17th September!\nPaul A. Carter, a computer professional and incidentally the creator of NameAndPlace.com ( https://www.nameandplace.com/ ) will join us to explain how you can organise your raw data by structuring it around people, places, events and names. Converting census returns into a spreadsheet is relatively easy, but how do you structure wills and other free format documents? Paul will show us some approaches you can use.\nTo join in this branch meeting, you will need a computer device which has a microphone and speakers. Ideally, also a webcam. You also need to be able to access emails from this device. First time users will be asked to download a small piece of software to join the meeting.  The meeting link will be emailed to you in advance. Technical help is available for those who need further assistance, please contact booking@berksfhs.org.uk\n
