SUMMARY:A guided tour of the Thames Valley Police Museum
DESCRIPTION:This visit to the Thames Valley Police Museum is organised by Newbury Branch as part of the special events to celebrate the 50th birthday of Berkshire Family History Society. It is open to members and non-members alike. \nThames Valley Police’s small museum is based at their training centre in Sulhamstead. It includes displays on the history of TV Police and the five police forces that merged to form it. These being Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxford City, Oxfordshire and Reading Borough. The museum’s collections include items from the Great Train Robbery of 1963, the Amelia Dyer baby farming murders, and uniforms, equipment, medals, scenes of crime evidence. Visitors are encouraged to bring their smartphone and headphones to benefit from the full interactive visitor experience.\nThe visit includes a tour of the Police Museum followed by a talk by Dave Stubbs.\nBookings close three days before the event.
