SUMMARY:Tour of the Berkshire Museum of Aviation
DESCRIPTION:This tour of the Berkshire Museum of Aviation in Woodley is organised by Bracknell & Wokingham Branch. It is part of the special events to celebrate the 50th birthday of Berkshire Family History Society. It is open to members and non-members alike. \nBerkshire’s dynamic contribution to aviation history is graphically recaptured at this compact but important museum. Run as a charitable trust, the museum is at the historic site of Woodley Airfield, once the centre of a thriving aircraft industry. Miles and Handley Page aircraft built at Woodley are being re-constructed and exhibited along with fascinating pictorial records and priceless archives. Large exhibits, many painstakingly restored, range from a Handley Page Herald, Miles Magister and Fairey Jet Gyrodyne, to the wind tunnel model of the Miles M.52 – which could have been the first ever supersonic aircraft. After the tour, tea and coffee will be available at £1.\nFree parking.\nTICKETS are £5 per person. This is payable upon arrival at the venue, therefore no payment will be collected when you book this event. \nBookings close three days before the event.
